Wakefield Arts Fair
23th - 26th May 2012
The Town Hall, Wakefield

Gallery Arts exhibition society are currently organising an art fair at Wakefield Town Hall and would like to invite local clubs and individual artist/ demonstrators and photographers to join us.
WMDC have kindly offered to host the event and have allocated use of the Kingswood Suite which is a very large room within the Town Hall. I feel sure this will be an excellent venue and we are very grateful to councillor Peter Box for his enthusiasm and support to ensure this much needed event will take place.
We are in the process of planning the exhibition and hope many artists will wish to take part therefore we would appreciate your early registration if you would like to join us. A website has been set up for registration purposes http://www.wakefieldartfair.co.uk where you will also find general information about the event and details of participating clubs / societies /demonstrators and sponsors. Space will be allocated on a first come first served basis so it is important when registering that you let us know how much space will be required to accommodate your individual exhibition. Details of space available and costs involved will be posted on the website within the next few weeks.
You will need to supply your own stands / tables and also be available to set up, man your exhibition throughout and take it down on the last day. You will also need to take responsibility for your own and others’ safety and the security of your artwork and equipment. I recommend taking out public liability insurance which can be obtained from www.saa.co.uk should you need it. Most art groups will already have insurance as this is a normal requirement so please check beforehand.
We hope the Wakefield Art Fair will become a regular event which will provide amateur artists with a much needed venue to exhibit their work as well as a purpose to paint. We hope to see it grow annually and become a well know event where people can exhibit, learn new techniques through demonstrations and purchase quality pieces of the work of local artists.
Amateur artists in the Wakefield district deserve to have their work exhibited but there are currently few opportunities. Hopefully this year’s exhibition will be the first of many so please join us to ensure the success of our first and future events.

Kind Regards

WAKEFIELD ART WALK
SEPTEMBER 2010

Gallery Arts members were delighted to exhibit their work in the Chantry Chapel on the September Art Walk.
The chapel has recently undergone improvements and proved to be a perfect location to display art and photography.
Despite the last minute organisation and publicity, the exhibition was well attended and we look forward to holding our next exhibition there for the November Art Walk.
Many thanks to The Friends of the Chantry Chapel for their involvement in enabling the exhibition to take place.

6th September 2010

Gallery Arts held their first exhibition of art and photography on Friday and Saturday at St.Catherine's Church, Wakefield. It opened on Thursday evening with a well attended preview where the artists and invited guests enjoyed a pleasant social evening browsing the excellent art and photography on display with a glass or two of wine, soft drinks and nibbles.

The two day exhibition which followed was voted a success by all exhibitors and visitors who came along to see it.

Gallery Arts members would like to thank all their fellow artists and photographers for joining us at the event and for collectively exhibiting an impressive display of high standard works.

We would also like to express our appreciation to everyone involved at St Catherine's for providing the venue for our first exhibition and welcoming us into their place of worship.

Thanks to everyone involved. We look forward to working again with you all, hopefully in the not too distant future.

20 January 2010

I was pleased to take part in an event at The Art House, Wakefield which was hosted by Friends of Wakefield Art Gallery and Museums.

The event was opened by Simon Wallace, Director of The Hepworth Wakefield who began with a briefing on the progress of the gallery followed by a short question and answer session between Simon and The Friends.

A refreshment break then provided an opportunity to view my exhibition of giclee prints of The Hepworth and the works of Barbara Hepworth.

This was followed by my recent project ‘Building The Hepworth’, an audio visual presentation set to classical music showing the various stages of construction of the gallery from 2005 to the end of 2009, followed by questions from The Friends.
